Welcome to 'Berwicks Hill Country Stay'

Our spacious Bed and Breakfast accommodation, south of Hokitika, West Coast, New Zealand, offers you a warm and friendly stay. Enjoy views of the sunsets, sea and mountains from the decks where you can relax with a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits after your drive.

The Chester from the street

A generous breakfast from our menu of your choice of continental and cooked, from a variety of cereals, fresh fruit, enjoy free-range eggs fresh from our hens with bacon, sausages, etc with toast and fruit juice, teas and coffees. This will set you up for a day of sight seeing.

Dinner is by prior arrangement; enjoy pre dinner drinks then join us for a generous country style meal of roast meat or a casserole and fresh vegetables with a delicious dessert, accompanied by New Zealand Wine.

The house is equipped with smoke alarms and off road parking is provided

Indoors is a smoke-free area, but if you choose to you are welcome to smoke on the decks

Beautiful Lake Mahinapua is only minutes from our home with interesting bush walks

Mananui bush walk a short walk to the Tasman Sea

Mahinapua Creek is a Whitebait breeding reserve; take a paddle boat cruise or a guided canoeing trip to see the bird life and rain forest in Lake Mahinapua.

There is also a Golf Links nearby.

After a 10 min drive to the north you are in Hokitika with its many crafts and a vibrant artisan community, Jade (Pounamu) Gold and other precious stones are crafted in many forms of jewellery. The town also has a number of good restaurants and cafes.

There are several recognised artists in the surrounding area.

Outdoor activities in the surrounding areas include; rafting, canoeing, river cruises, kayaking, scenic flights and bush, lakeside and beach walks.

The town of Ross is 14 minutes south of Berwicks Hill and has a colourful history with a small museum and local guides available to show the many aspects of the historical gold mining and interesting walks.
